Low-cost BioAmplifier for plants, easy to build and customize
There are flows of electricity occurring in the body of living organisms in response to transmitting nerve signals and moving muscles. This flow of electricity is called the bioelectric potential. Bioelectrical potentials are found not only in animals but also in plants. (In fact, historically, it was discovered in plants first before animals).
And just as human bioelectrical potentials can be checked with electromyographs and electroencephalographs, there are equivalent devices for plants. The Plant SpikerBox from backyardbrains.com is one example.
There are 3 reasons I’ve decided this as my final project.
Pure interest to the Venus Flytrap
For a long time, I have been interested in the Venus flytrap plant and wanted to do something with it. This species is well known that the action potentials are particularly easy to measure.
Complexity of the existing product.
The Plant SpikerBox is claimed as an open source, but the architecture is too compicated to build for beginners. Besides, you have to design your own board to make it because the gerber file is not published.
The price
If you can't make it, you can buy it. But the price is not so cheap.
